About the Principals
E. Hunter Herron, PhD Dr. Herron has over 35 years of diversified experience in the petroleum industry. He was with Exxon Corporation (now ExxonMobil) for 15 years, initially in technical positions at the corporation's research and development laboratories in New Jersey and at its upstream research laboratory in Houston. Subsequently, he was assigned to the senior staff at Exxon's European headquarters in London and its world headquarters, then located in New York. In 1978, Dr. Herron accepted the position of vice president for operations at H.J. Gruy & Associates, a Texas-based petroleum consulting firm. He headed Gruy's Washington (D.C.) office until establishing the predecessor company to Petroleum Equities in 1984.
Dr. Herron is a senior member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and past chairman of SPEs National Capital section. He is also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Council of Energy Advisors, and Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Society). He has served as a technical editor for the SPEs Journal of Petroleum Technology and is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. J.D. Hughes, PE
Mr. Hughes, a registered Petroleum Engineer, has over 35 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Since 1990 he has served, through his own consultancy, as petroleum advisor to numerous private companies in Switzerland and the United States who were seeking entry into the international energy sector. Previously, Mr. Hughes was for 23 years with Ashland Oil, occupying positions of increasing responsibility. As corporate vice president of exploration and production he was responsible for all of Ashlands operations in more than a dozen foreign countries, including Indonesia, Kuwait, Nigeria, the U.K. North Sea, and Venezuela. As executive vice president of Ashland Oil International, he worked directly with U.S. congressmen, foreign ambassadors, and World Bank officials pursuing investment opportunities in petrochemicals, crude oil, and natural gas.
Mr. Hughes is a member and past national president of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, a member and past national president of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, a senior member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and past chairman of SPEs National Capital section, and a member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He has also been elected to the Twenty-Five Year Club, which convenes at the annual meeting of the American Petroleum Institute and is composed of the petroleum industrys 300 most distinguished members.
Mr. Hughes holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Washington University (St. Louis). He has also pursued graduate studies in reservoir engineering at Pennsylvania State College and in business administration and finance at the University of Houston.
Vinod K. Shrivastava
As CEO of CORE, Mr. Shrivastava has developed over 250 projects in at least 70 countries involving a variety of donors and project sponsors, including multilateral financial institutions such as the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Asian Development Bank, and Inter-American Development Bank; bilateral agencies such as the U.S. Trade and Development Agency and the U.S. Agency for International Development; governments and state enterprises in over 40 countries; and in the private sector, major corporations and venture capitalists. His infrastructure development experience includes numerous projects in the petroleum sector, as well as projects in the mining, power, telecommunications, and construction sectors.
Prior to founding CORE in 1984, Mr. Shrivastava held management positions with leading U.S. consulting firms and was a lecturer in physics at American University, the University of Maryland, and the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India.
Mr. Shrivastava is a member of Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Society). He holds a B.S. degree in physics and engineering from St. Aloysis College and an M.S. degree in applied technology from the University of Jabalpur, India.
